Blue Jay Point County Park

Blue Jay Point is one of a handful of parks operated by Wake County in central North Carolina. I had the privilege to work with Wake County park staff as an intern during my post-graduate degree. As a result, I received one heck of an education about government, park planning and how it all fits together to provide open space and leisure opportunities to a populace. Nearly a decade after my internship with Wake County, I was contacted via comment on my blog by the current park manager at Blue Jay Point County Park about using a photo she saw there. Of course I said yes.

If you are looking to get back to nature in the Raleigh area check out Wake County Parks. Blue Jay Point is a prime destination for Environmental Education and a great place to hike and fish. Check out the brochure for more info and be sure and note the little fisherman on the last page.

Presenting Jonah the Director

Jonah was the creator and director of these Lego shorts. I'm sure it is the first of many to come.

Happy Mother's Day to Me

As a homeschooling mom, this makes my day - both kids wrote me a Mother's Day card without prompting or help of any kind. I have arrived! :-)

Flea Market Finds and Family Time

Lutheran Haven in Oviedo had it's biannual yardsale today. We visited the sale with a grandma today and had a lovely time. Perks of living closer to family these days. We managed to pick up a couple of awesome bargains too. The adults were happy to find an Aussie brand grill with side burner for $20 - no rust and it started right up when we brought it home.
The kids took their allowance in case they found something interesting. Elisabeth purchased a pink, plush, stick unicorn with prancing sound for $2. It was surprisingly clean and intact. We didn't even realize the sound worked until I turned on the battery pack. She also found a baby carrier for her dolls for 50 cents. She was thrilled.

Jonah picked up a handful of figures for a $1 which included a Safari Ltd. Purple Chinese Dragon figurine that usually retails for $10 or more.

Quality family time and bargains - love it!
