Port Bickerton Lighthouse

If not for a couple of weather worn signs along the road in Isaac's Harbour advertising Port Bickerton Lighthouse and Beach, we would have never discovered this gem of place.

The original lighthouse built in 1901 burned in the 1920's. This second structure was built in 1930.

When technology advanced in the 1960's another structure was built to hold the necessary equipment.
The 1930's lighthouse now houses an the Port Bickerton Lighthouse Interpretive Center and gift shop.

Port Bickerton Lighthouse on Barachois Head
Elisabeth taking a break to look at the view
Trails lead out on to Barachois Shoal and the beach in Barachois Cove
Hiking out to the point
Waves crash all along this rocky shoal
We enjoyed just sitting and watching the waves
Jonah loves climbing the rocks
As we watched the ocean, we also saw several high level fog banks roll inland
A lovely relaxing spot to watch the sea
We could stay and watch the waves crash along the shoal for hours
